About

Our Purpose

The purpose of the MassTimes ministry is to help Catholics get to Mass by helping them find churches and worship times worldwide. We do this by hosting and sharing the most comprehensive database of Catholic churches and worship times in existence. Dioceses, parishes, and many volunteers help us keep the database current. We also host the masstimes.org website and iOS/Android apps that our visitors use to search for churches.

It can be difficult for Catholics to find a Mass when traveling or when it is not practical to attend their regular parishes. It is not always easy to find the right diocesan or parish websites. MassTimes makes it much easier to search for a Mass by presenting all the possibilities in a geographical area on one page. We provide worship times, church locations, contact information, website links and maps. There are 117,000 churches in 201 countries/territories, so it is a daunting task to keep all the information current.

Since MassTimes began its ministry we have performed millions of church lookups for visitors to our service. MassTimes cooperates with parishes, dioceses and bishops' councils and conferences to assemble the information about the churches. MassTimes only lists Catholic churches that are on diocesan web sites or authenticated by information provided by a diocese or religious order.

How it Works

MassTimes uses your current location, if you have permitted it, to display a list of the 30 closest churches. You may also initiate a search by entering any address, city, state/province, postal code, etc., in the world into the Address Bar. Your search results show up on the "map page" orderded by distance from the search point. The more accurately you specify the search point (e.g., by using a full street address), the more accurate the distance to each church will be for your purposes. The default search results display the times of Masses for the current day. Use the "Service Type" and "Day" filter buttons to expand or narrow the search results. Use the "All" button to show a list of all the churches whether they have a service for the current day or not.

Move the map and tap a location to re-center a search. Or, just enter a different address, city, etc. For every church listed there is a link to the church's website (if it exists) as well as a link to make updates to that church's information.

Churches routinely change their Mass times, so it is prudent to double-check the parish's website to see if the Mass times are still valid. As an aid to accuracy, MassTimes displays the date of the last update for each church in the search results.

FAQs

I found my parish but the schedule isn’t correct—how can we fix it?

Have you noticed that your parish data isn't up to date? Fortunately, there is an easy way for you to update your Mass schedule. On your computer just follow the link beneath the listed Mass times to "Update This Parish's Data". When you click on this link your browser will open a new tab where you can make changes after initially asking you for an email address. Don't worry, we won't be sending you any junk email. We just like to keep track of who is making the changes. After you enter your email address you will see the form that will allow you to update your parish information.

We greatly appreciate your help with this. The Mass Times Trust has a daunting task: we’re trying to keep a record of every Catholic Church and every Mass on earth so that your fellow Catholics may be able to find a Mass to attend when they are not able to go to their home parish. To our knowledge, nobody else has as much information as we have been able to collect over the past 25 years. Many hands make light work, and we are grateful for your assistance. If you have any questions or concerns please send an email to webmaster@masstimes.org and we’ll help out.

Our church isn't listed! How do we add it?

If you need to add a new church or delete a church because it has closed, please send an email to webmaster@masstimes.org and provide the name of the church and its address.

Are contributions to the Mass Times Trust deductible for U.S. Income Tax Purposes?

Release Notes

February 2019 - We have replaced Google Maps with another solution after a horrific price increase by Google.  Through most of 2018 we were paying Google $30.00/month for the mapping functionality but their price increases drove our monthly cost to nearly $9,000.00, a 3,000% jump!  Google at least gave people time, in the form of credits, to adjust and we did just that.  Our new mapping partner is Esri using OpenStreetMap.  Donations from visitors such as you helped us cover the cost of development.  Thank you all!

May 2019 - For an indication of what our audience is like please visit our dashboard.

June 2020 - We made the desktop map larger after moving the ads to a more "native-looking" location within the search results.

October 2020 - Added header link to today's Mass readings (courtesy of the USCCB).

January 2021 - Changed the look & feel of the desktop and mobile web platforms to be more modern and user friendly.
